“Look well to the spine for the cause of disease.” -Hippocrates
Our Central Nervous System, consisting of the brain and spinal cord, has the important role of coordinating information and directing responses in the body. Billions of neurons (nerve cells) allow the different parts of the body to communicate via the brain and spinal cord; transmission of impulses in the CNS occur almost instantaneously from one region of the body to the other.
When the spine becomes subluxated or is misaligned, the body attempts to compensate, causing stiffness and distortion of the spine. This can cause a number of conditions to develop, even in otherwise healthy people.
According to current scientific information, “Your health and well-being depends on a normally functioning nervous system, regardless of age or health history.”
This chart illustrates the relationship between spinal alignment and overall health, and can help you gain insight into your own spinal health. Wellness hangs in the balance!
